About Saadi :

Sa’di is one of the most famous Persian poet who was born in 1208 (606 AH) in Shiraz and lived during 16th century. When Saadi lost his father at the age of 12 he started learning literature but, when he grew up he decided to travel abroad and study other subjects and get more, therefore he travelled to Iraq and started studying Islamic sciences, law governance, history, and Arabic literature at Nezamiyeh university. Saadi shirazi is well known in Iran and his words have been quoted by so many people in Iran. Tomb of Saadi :


The tomb of Saadi is in Shiraz province. Back in 18th century during Karim Khan Zand’s days, he ordered to built a tomb for Saadi to respect him. Persian architecture has always been famous for their unique tile work, Saadi’s tomb is also decorated with different colours of tiles. Saadi’s tomb is surrounded with tall green cypress trees in the middle of a garden in Shiraz, this place every year hosts so many tourists from all over the world as well as Iranian people. When you walk in the garden where Saadi’s grave located, you would not take your eyes off the walls which are engraved with Saadi’s poet work. If you take few steps down you will get to a fish pond, some Iranian people believe that if you throw a coin in and fishes see that your coin, your wish will be granted, definitely your wish worth a coin.

How and when to get to Saadi’s tomb:

You can use public transport such as taxi and buses to get to the Tomb of Saadi. Saadi’s tomb is open everyday from 7:30am until 22:00pm for visitors.
